Dak Prescott’s Bold Super Bowl Claim Sparks Fan Outrage: ‘Delusional’ Cowboys QB Slammed for Dismissing Eagles’ Triumph

NFL fans have blasted Dak Prescott for saying he believes the Dallas Cowboys are ‘very close’ to winning a Super Bowl.

The claim from the Cowboys came in the days following their division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, winning the Super Bowl, with several direct comparisons between the teams over recent years.

Dallas was one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL in 2024, finishing 7-10 with Prescott missing half the season with an injury.

To make matters worse, the Cowboys archrivals, the Washington Commanders, had their best season in more than three decades, falling to the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game, an event Dallas has not participated in since 1996.

‘I feel like we’ve competed with the Eagles and beat them for the most part when we’ve played them,’ Prescott said. ‘I don’t want to say, “Check the record” when the other guy is holding the trophy, right? So credit to them. They’ve earned it, and they deserve it by all means. But, yeah, [we’re] very close.’

Fans on social media called out Prescott for his take, with him defending his team, not being reality.

Team owner Jerry Jones has not seen Dallas reach the conference championship since 1996

‘Dreamers are going to dream and this dream is a nightmare,’ one fan said on social on X.

‘Only a quarterback, running back and defense away,’ another NFL supporter posted.

‘Of course he’s going to say that, but watching the Eagles demolish the Chiefs in the Super Bowl and having watched Dallas this year…well…Dak’s nose is growing,’ a third added.

‘Very close… like how I tell my kids they can be dinosaurs and unicorns when they grow up,’ a final person concluded.

At best, Dallas enters next season as the third best team in its own division. It has a new head coach in Brian Scottenheimer, which did little to excite Cowboys fans.

Some believe as long as Jerry Jones is the team’s owner, the Cowboys will not have success, with further proof being Washington’s revival without Daniel Snyder attached to the team.

‘Especially even watching the NFC championship and those two teams – teams that we battle against each and every year a couple of times,’ Prescott added. ‘As I said, [I] feel confident that we’ve gotten the better part each and every time. But just seeing such a dominating fashion [in Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs], credit to them. It’s our turn and it’s on us.’

The take from Prescott is not impossible, as the Cowboys made the postseason for three straight years before a regression in 2024.

However, many online see it as an arduous task looking at the talent on their roster.
